Friday Sock Co  Friday Sock Co makes cool mismatched socks that anyone should be proud to flash on a walk or at the gym. The company is based in Calgary and the socks are ethically made in Italy with a portion of all sales donated to charity.  This year they have these great tree themed socks with every pair bought going towards planting 25 trees. You can also support the Calgary Library with socks patterned off the building design.

Routine Deodorant Created by two Calgary sisters, Routine is some of the best natural deodorant around. As well as being effective, they have many different scents and their products accommodate almost everyone with vegan, non scented and sensitive skin choices. They also donate some of their money to charity. With everyone needing deodorant it’s a good present if you run out of ideas. If you’re unsure of what scent to purchase they also have small sampler packs to buy so you don’t have to choose.

Aleppo Soap Abdulfatah Sabouni created this soap company two years after he had come to Calgary from Syria. A 4th generation soapmaker his soaps feature olive oil and laurel oil and can be used on your hand, body and hair and wouldn’t dry your skin out. While there’s many good soaps being sold, this one will be sure to win anybody over.

Lowen’s Natural Skincare Created by a Calgary pharmacist, Lowen’s Natural Skincare sells a wide range of hair and skincare products that are perfect for Calgary’s dry climate and suit anyone’s skin type. They use local, organic or fair trade ingredients as much as possible and some of their products are vegan. While many of their products are unscented, they have a wide selection of scented lip balm flavors which are unique and creative.

Design Minimalism Apparel Design Minimalism sells cleanly designed hats and shirts reminding us to play, climb, jump and unplug. They are especially perfect for anyone that climbs or skips and they come in kids, women’s and male sizes.

King Athletics If you want to buy some workout or loungewear staples like sweats, shorts or tank tops for you or someone else, consider King Athletics. The apparel is made completely in North America with the cotton grown in North Carolina, the fabric made in Montreal and the cutting and sewing done in Calgary. Things come logo free so it’s great for anyone that isn’t into branding.

You may even be able to get something with your particular community on it. Alberta Apparel Let’s face it with Calgary’s cold winter days it’s hard to have too many sweatshirts and hoodies. Many fitness studios, gyms and massage studios are also locally owned so they are also great to buy gift certificates from if you know a person frequents one of them.
