Active Events in Calgary August 16-23

August 17

Yogatoks Try out different yoga and fitness classes throughout the day. There will also be entertainment and vendors set up to browse. Ethel Tucker Park Okotoks 9am-5:30pm $10

Hike Mount Yamnuska Hike Mount Yamnuska with the Hey Hiker group. Brentwood Train Station 9am-5pm

Hike with Mike 4.0 Take part in a big group hike up to Grizzly Peak. After the hike you can meet back for dinner and drinks. Stoney Nakoda Casino 10am-5pm

Backpacks for Kids Take part in a strongman competition for all skill levels. Money goes to filling backpacks for kids in need. Evolve Strength Sunridge 10am-2pm $45

Run to the Taps With both a 6km South run and a 10km north run, there’s a run to breweries that should work for you. Each tour will visit 3 breweries, spending 45 minutes at each to enjoy a beer and learn about the brewery. Volunteers will be leading and tailing the run so you wouldn’t have to worry about navigating. Registering also gets you a growler. Start at brewery 6pm-9pm

August 18

Alberta Open Farm Days Alberta Open Farm Days runs August 17 and 18 to give farmers the chance to show off their farms and what they do to the public. Some highlights close by include the Glengary Bison farm by Airdrie, Your Local Ranch Ltd by Airdrie, TK Ranch by Chestermere, Aksei Farms by Sundre and Alberta Tilapia Aquaponics by Ensign. It’s a good chance to get outside, walk and learn more about the food that you eat. There are usually samples, the opportunity to purchase product and kids activities. Hours Vary.

August 20

Silver Springs Yoga Enjoy a yoga class led by the YMCA in the beautiful Silver Springs Garden. 6:30pm-7:30pm

Limbus X Cspace Try out a Limbus workout outside. If you’ve never tried a Limbus class think of a barre/aerobics class with some Soul Cycle messaging throughout. Cspace 6pm-7pm $10

August 21

Free pick up ultimate frisbee Bring a white and dark shirt and play some ultimate. All levels welcome. Calgary Rugby Union Field #9 6:30pm start

Glenmore Reservoir Bike, skate, run, walk or rollerblade around the reservoir. There are plenty of places if you want to pick some saskatoon berries and there’s a free concert at Heritage Park if you want to make some stops.

August 22

Deerfoot City Recess Play some outdoor lawn games. 1pm-4pm

Yoga x The Village Take part in Lululemon’s community yoga event. Enjoy an hour of yoga followed by a refreshment. The Village 6pm-8pm

August 23

Funky Flow Yoga   Flow class with funky beats.  Yoga Dot Calm 6:15pm-7:15pm $5
