National Health and Fitness Day In celebration of National Health and Fitness Day World Health is offering free admission to their gyms. Goodlife Fitness will have an open house. Trico Centre is offering buy one admission, second person gets in free. Some Orangetheory Fitness locations have an open house where new guests can try a workout for free. Beltline Aquatic Centre will have free sampler classes, fitness wall demos and challenges from 10am-2pm.

Flower Power Flowers are blooming so it’s the perfect time for this 5km women’s run. Registration includes cookies and a medal with proceeds going to the YWCA Sherriff King Home. Confederation Park 9am

Dil Walk If you are concerned about heart disease or have any family members that you are concerned about head out to the Dil Walk. There’ll be cardiologists and other specialists on site and there’ll also be a group walk, a free lunch and other prizes. Lester B Pearson 9:30am-1pm

Hope Classic Grab your favorite superhero costume and walk, run or wheel 1km, 5km or 10km. There will also be a BBQ, children’s activities and more. Money goes to Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association of Southern Alberta. South Glenmore Park 9:30am-1:30pm $20-$25

Pure Cycle Outdoor The City of Calgary in conjunction with Apple Fitness will be offering free spin classes outside. South Glenmore Park June 1 9:30am, June 3 6pm, June 5 6pm, June 7 9:30am

Dog Jog Take part in a fun 2.5km or 5km run/walk with your best friend. Money goes to the Calgary Humane Society. Afterwards there will be lots of activities that you and your pooch can do together. South Glenmore Park 12pm-4pm $10 registration Min $100 fundraised

Opening Day Celebration Rocky Mountain Flying Trapeze is opening for the season! To kick things off you can try it out for $10 with each subsequent fly $5. Wild West Event Centre 1pm-4pm

Pride Ride Take part in a friendly, inclusive ride from Kensington to East Village. Once there you’ll get to dance to music from Bass Buss and grab some food from Calgary’s Food Trucks. Plaza Theatre start. 1pm-3pm

Sharing Dance Rehearsal It’s the last day to rehearse the Sharing Dance, a dance that will be performed nationwide on Sharing Dance Day on June 7. Open to anyone over the age of 6, this nationwide initiative aims to get everyone dancing. Wildflower Arts Centre 3:30pm-4:30pm

Spartan Race The biggest of the OCR races, Spartan will be at Red Deer on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be the 5km Sprint Series with 20 obstacles while Sunday will have the 13km Super Series with 25 obstacles. Elite, age group and open categories. Heritage Ranch 8:30am-2pm $69-$184

Footstock Take part in a 5km or 10km run along the river in Cochrane. All profits go to local charities. Spray Lakes Sport Centre 8am

Run Bowness Take part in the 9th annual Bowness Run. There are 5km and 10km options and a shirt is included with registration. Bowness Community Association 9am

BMX Day in Alberta Kids and adults can try out BMX for the first time in this province wide event. Airdrie BMX will have hikes, gloves and helmets to borrow with volunteers providing tips. Airdrie BMX Park 10am-2pm

Banff Recreation and Parks Day To celebrate Recreation and Parks Month there will be free activities running the whole day. Highlights include skateboarding, biking, canoeing, yoga and basketball. There will also be a free BBQ. Various locations in Banff 9am-8pm

Lilac Festival If you’re heading to Lilac Festival keep an eye out for the Participaction van/booth. They recently launched a new community contest that you can find out about. If you have kids there’s also a kids zone where kid’s can get active. 10am-6pm

Women’s Golf Day perfect day for women to hone their golf game or try it for the first time. There’s clinics and deals at Blue Devil, Golf Canada and Lynx Ridge in Calgary.

Global Run Day Celebrate Global Run day with a 4.5km run followed by some socializing and food. Crossroads East Village 6:30pm-8:30pm

Birthday Brewery Run Celebrate Arc’teryx Calgary’s first birthday with a brewery run. You’ll run 10km, visiting 4 breweries on the way. Arc’teryx Calgary 6pm

Sharing Dance Day Today’s the day! If you’ve made it to any of the Sharing Dance Day rehearsals it’s now time to perform. Central Library 4pm-5pm

WildR Rough Runner WildR Rough Runner’s first event is the 100m vertical sprint. There’s 2 more events on Saturday a trail run and obstacle course. You can do as many or as few events are you want. Castle Mountain 8pm $99-$119.99

Highwood Pass This road will be opening to cars June 15 so if you want to bike, blade or board down it without cars, get to it.
