New Year New Things!

January is the perfect month to try something new. And luckily if you’re broke from Christmas, there’s lots of free and cheap options too.

If you want to dance Decidedly Jazz is running their $5 class week January 2-8 and Free Spirit Dance has their free class day January 7.  Both have a huge variety of classes that you can try out.

If you feel like you need to relax or stretch Mountain Air Yoga and MELT has a free open house January 7. If you feel like doing some stretching with your family, Wee Wild ones has free family yoga every Saturday morning for the month of January.

If you want to try out some fitness classes Lorna Jane is celebrating their opening with a free High Fitness and Barre Belles class January 7. West Hillhurst is kicking off the new year with an assortment of free classes from January 8-13 including some for seniors, Calgary Jewish Community Centre is hosting Fitweek from January 9-14 and has free classes for the whole family, Village Square Leisure Centre hosts a variety of classes for $2 from Jan 8-15 , Beltline and Inglewood Aquatic Centres have $2 classes running from Jan 9-22,Ballet Barre Works hosts their monthly free new client barre workout classes Sunday  January 8 and Vital 1 is starting up a few new sessions with new clients getting their first class free.

From January 16-21 All Sport One City  will have over 40+ different activities and sports for adults to try for free. From floorball to TRX and darts there’s a new activity for everyone, in all different quadrants of the city.

Excited about the Roughnecks season starting? If you are a lady and want to try out some lacrosse, check out the Roughnecks annual Ladycrosse event.

Want to hit the slopes? Head to Ski Cellar Snowboard and pick up some free tickets for their customer appreciation night at COP.  January 14 is National Ski Day. Nakiska and Panorama are both participating with half price lift tickets for the day. January 15 is World Snow Day, children 12 and under can hit the slopes for free with a paying adult at Canada Olympic Park and Lake Louise.

While it might not seem like the right season, you can try out kayaking indoors at the Waterwerks Club Open house January 10. It’s free and open to all ages and abilities.

For any high school students looking for gym options during their exam break Trico Centre is offering a 1 month student pass for only $22.

Log your activities at Participaction’s 150 play list, a list of 15 activities to celebrate Canad’s 150 birthday and you could win prizes.
