After a balmy start, we have winter again. Wondering what to do with the change in weather? There are tons of great events that will get you moving indoors and outdoors for the rest of November.
Skating- Dust off your skates, it’s skating season. Olympic plaza has opened and now offers skate rentals. Springbank also has their outdoor rink open and offers public skating and shinny at specific times. Zoolights, opening November 25 runs an outdoor rink ( weather permitting) with free skate rentals. If you aren’t a fan of outdoor ice #GetMovingYYC starts November 26 and has various free indoor skate times around the city.
Skiing/Snowboarding- Sunshine opened November 4 and Lake Louise is set to open November 18. Hit the slopes before everybody else does.
Try out a new Class- Freehouse Dance has a Move-ember event November 20 where adults can try a different dance class every half hour for free. Vital 1 is newly launched in Calgary and is offering a free intro class November 19 with their first session starting November 21. UFC gym is running free classes for November at 6am Monday to Thursday and 7am Friday. Support the Alex Foundation by trying out a HIGH fitness charity class November 20.
November Project-Celebrate November with the free outdoor early morning fitness movement called the November Project. The Calgary chapter meets at 6:13 every Wednesday morning at the Memorial Park stairs and 6:13 Monday mornings at various city locations.
Love obstacle course races? Try out the firefit challenge raising money for Movember and see if you can do what the firefighters do. The newly opened Injanation also gives kids and adults the chance to to work on their ninja warrior skills indoors in a throughout the winter.
Have kids? Celebrate National Child Day on November 20. There’s free swimming for kids under 18 at City of Calgary pools and free admission for all at Calgary YMCAs.
Show off your Ugly Christmas Sweater! Take part in Calgary’s Great Sweater Run and show off your Chirstmas sweater while working up a sweat. 10k, 5k and 2k run options are available and there’s currently a groupon for the 5k.
